So grateful to have been able to see The Floor Scarpers in person at The Frist in Nashville - many thanks to the Musee D'Orsay for the loan. Incredible painting - love Caillebotte's works more than ever.

The most famous painting, you will see in a wood flooring contractors show room or home.

What a beautiful use of light through the window! It is reminiscent, a bit, of Vermeer's common upper left window placement. Caillebotte captured the thin curls of wood with such accuracy. Although he appears to be realist in many ways, I would call him impressionist. Although his work exemplifies a style of capturing realistic moments, his use of light and tendency to show brushstrokes is distinctly Impressionist.
